The Yutaka Seino Distinguished Leadership Award

Prof. Lee-Ming Chuang
Chair Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine, National Taiwan University, Taiwan
Reason: In recognition of his outstanding and long contributions in the scientific field locally and worldwide, especially, the understanding of insulin resistance in metabolic diseases is internationally known. He also published the many articles with high impact journals. Furthermore, he is one of the founders of AASD and highly contributed to IDF-WPR and AASD and other academic activities.
His gentle, kind and great leadership gives many young investigators a significantly positive effect and becomes their role model.

Dr. Young Min Cho
Associate Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Seoul National University College of Medicine, Korea
Reason: In recognition of his numerous scientific achievements from his earlier research (genetics of type 2 diabetes and mitochondria, then incretin) to recent research (new gastrointestinal factors with animal bariatric surgery models).He is also recognized for many publications on his conducted research/clinical studies as lead author in spite of his youth.

Prof. Nam Han Cho
Professor, Preventive Medicine, Ajou University School of Medicine, Korea
Reason: In recognition of his outstanding scientific achievements in epidemiology through large and prospective cohort studies regarding the epidemiology of diabetes complications and also of prevention of diabetes in Korea. The value of his publications is excellent. He serves in national and international level of diabetes organizations and his lots of contributions to young researchers and societies are remarkable and evaluated.
Previous Awards: “The Chivalic Royal order with Mahasena Grade (Grand Officer) Insignia” from the King of Kingdom of Cambodia, Korean ministry of “health outstanding scientific award”, “National health service award” from the minister of health and many other awards
The Eung Jin Kim Award for Excellent Activities for Diabetes in Asia

Prof. Moon-Kyu Lee
Professor, Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, Korea
Reason: His outstanding regional activities for diabetes care are distinguished as researcher/clinician and also as great leader and diabetologist. He contributed in many organizations (e.g. Korean Diabetes Association, Korean Society of Lipidology & Atherosclerosis, IDF-WPR and AASD) with diabetes and other related fields. Over 100 international research papers is also supported his scientific excellent works in diabetes care and treatment.
The Boniface J. Lin Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diabetes Education in Asia

Dr. Shih-Tzer Tsai
Senior Consultant, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Director of Department of Nutrition, Cheng Hsin General Hospital, Taiwan
Reason: His longer-term (more than 40 years) dedication to diabetes education in Taiwan should be admired. He is one of the founder of Taiwanese Association of Diabetes Educators and contributed to establish a model for associates (e.g. building global network).More important publications concerning diabetes treatment are issued not only in Taiwan but also internationally.
