Reason: In recognition of his outstanding scientific contributions to Asian diabetes societies and for his research in both basic and translational science that has significantly advanced our understanding of the pathophysiology of diabetes. He has he nurtured many young Asian diabetologists who are currently active in our region’s academic institutions. He has become a co-editor of JDI, intensifying his efforts to raise the quality and impact of the journal to top-tier. He has demonstrated great leadership in science, education and society.

Reason: In recognition of his outstanding scientific achievements in epidemiological and translational research on diabetes. He has established a large community-based cohort of diabetes and two pregnancy cohorts. He also has found a potential biomarker predicting diabetic complications as well as a potential drug target in his studies on the pathophysiology of diabetes using cell and animal models of obesity, diabetes, and atherosclerosis.

Reason: In recognition of his outstanding scientific achievements in clinical epidemiological study of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). He has investigated the genetic susceptibility and the metabolic phenotype of GDM and/or postpartum diabetes. His findings have been published in many quality journals.

Reason: Her outstanding activities in diabetes field are distinguished. She has worked extensively to improve the quality of diabetes care in different areas of China including multiminority areas, setting up medical workstations. Over hundred and fifty international publication also supports her scientific excellence in diabetes care and treatment. She has a long term leadership achievements and contributions to Diabetes Care in Asia.

President of Kazakh Society of Study of Diabetes, The Medical Clinic “AAA”, Republic of Kazakhstan
Reason: His contributions to Diabetes Education are acknowledged. He has been the Chief of the Endocrinology Service of the Ministry of Health in the Republic of Kazakhstan, working on establishing the guidelines for diabetes care and education. He is a founder of multiple diabetes centers in Kazakhstan. He is also CEO of the Public Foundation "Kazakh Society for the Study of Diabetes", devoting the development of scientific research in the field of diabetes in Kazakhstan.
